S Club give sick kids Xmas treat
S Club have it all - looks, fame and fortune - but their annual Christmas visit to a hospital for sick children is the highlight of their year.
Hannah, Rachel, Jon, Bradley and Tina broke off their own holidays to visit London's Great Ormond Street Hospital. Jo was at home with a bad back.
Hannah told The Sun: "Nothing beats today. We love coming here. It's unbelievably upsetting seeing really ill kids but so rewarding."
The band admitted they were often close to tears as they toured the wards of children who won't be home for Christmas. But the joy the youngsters showed as they met their idols and got the band's autographs helped the stars along.
Rachel said: "It's an amazing feeling to see their eyes light up when they see us. Anything we can do to help is wonderful."
Jon says the hospital visits made him realise how selfish he is. He said: "It puts everything into perspective."

Jo: I can't stand Christmas
Popworld asked Jo if she was looking forward to Christmas and here is what she had to say:
I can't stand Christmas. I'm a right old Scrooge, I am. I love it for the kids, and I think it's really amazing with all the excitement of seeing Father Christmas, but I think, as you get older, it's definitely just for the kids. It's a pain in the ass - lots of cooking and seeing relatives that you really don't want to see.
Jon decorated my Christmas tree last year and I could have killed him! He was like, 'Jo, it's Christmas - it's got to be tack.' He was putting on greens and reds and oranges and pinks and purples! I left it 'cos he would have been upset if he'd have known I'd changed it. Plus, I couldn't be bothered anyway. I'm so miserable, but it's just not my thing.'

Seeing Double at 17
S Club's new album, Seeing Double, entered the UK album charts at number 17 last week. It's not a good start for the album, but the competition in the charts is tough at the moment.

S Club Album A Hit
Contrary to press reports, S Club's fourth album, Seeing Double, isn't going to turn out to be the major flop it was expected to be.
Despite early indications that Seeing Double was due to debut on this weekend's chart at a lowly No. 26, new figures suggest it'll make the Top 10.
That'll no doubt come as a relief to Jon, Jo, Tina, Bradley, Rachel and Hannah, who are used to having their albums all crash into the Top 10.

Jo Faces Crisis Op
She's been out of the limelight for weeks and is set to remain there until next year.
But what her hordes of fans don't realise is that S Club's lead singer Jo O'Meara is suffering from a rare hereditary back condition which, according to a record company source, could at its worst land her in a wheelchair.
The blonde starlet, 23, is in so much pain that she has been ordered by her doctors to cancel all appearances for the rest of the year.
A worried chaperone from the band's record company, Polydor, told 3am at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party: "Jo is not just resting if that's what you think. Her condition is really serious.
"She has seen specialists in the UK and in America and has been told that if she has an operation to correct her back then she could face being in a wheelchair.
"If she doesn't have it, she could eventually end up in a wheelchair too. It's a very difficult decision. She hasn't made up her mind on what she's going to do.
"She's not well at all and is spending her time at home watching the rest of the band doing promotion for their new album."
The problem lies in the discs in Jo's spine which don't work properly because they are dehydrated and are hitting her sciatic nerve. The condition can get so painful her legs often go into spasms.
Apart from having physiotherapy three times a week, she also has to follow a daily plan, which involves lots of stretches, sit-ups and flexibility exercises.
Our source added: "Jo is trying her best to get back to health for the start of the year. "She also is determined not to miss out on the tour which starts in April. But it's a very difficult condition and she constantly feels uncomfortable with her back."
News that S Club's lead vocalist is out of action for the time being is a big blow to the band - who rely on her singing ability to get them to the top spot of the charts.
Record producers have already drafted in band member Rachel Stevens to re-record Jo's lyrics to their new single, Alive, for public appearances - although fans will hear Jo when they buy the CD in shops.
S Club's spokesman told 3am last night: "She's doing very well at the moment. She's following doctors orders so that she will be ready to perform again in January. Performing with the band is what she lives for."
And Jo said: "My mum has had the condition for years and it's something she lives with, just like me. "Taking this rest means I'll be fit and well for the S Club United tour in April next year. I can't wait to get back up there."

Alive at No. 5
S Club's new single, Alive, entered the UK singles chart at No. 5 last week. Although it's S Club's 10th straight top-10 hit since debuting at No.1 with "Bring It All Back" in June '99, it breaks a run of nine consecutive top-3 debuts.

Split Rumours
are Rubbish
Ex S Club member Paul Cattermole has said rumours that the band are splitting up are "rubbish".
He added that earlier on Thursday he'd been speaking to Jon and Hannah and they said the band were all really upset with rumours that had been in the newspapers that aren't true.
Some stories had said the band are only going to stay together until they had finished promoting the film they are making, Seeing Double. It's even been said that the band can't stand the site of each other anymore after working together for so long.
But when Paul was asked if the band would still be together after the movie he said: "I'd have thought so." He added they're "carrying on doing their thing like the troops they are."
Paul also talked about his plans for the future, and how happy he was with girlfriend Hannah, who is of course still in the band.

Fan Stalks Tina
S Club bosses called in the police after a crazed fan deluged Tina Barrett with flowers and emails. Executives at 19 Management started to worry after the man kept sending flowers and notes to the singer.
Cops acted when he got access to an email address for another girl called Tina in the 19 office and began sending her a barrage of emails, mistakenly thinking she was the star.
An insider: "At first we thought the flowers and notes were innocent but we began to worry when the flowers started coming every day and he got an email address for another Tina, sending more than 20 emails a day. "He has been cautioned by the police and we have not heard from him since."
This is not the first time a crazed fan has targeted S Club. Tina's bandmate Rachel Stevens was under 24-hour guard in February after a stalker burst into her dressing room.

Paul's Still
Part of the Gang
Even though Paul Cattermole has left S Club, according to Bradley he's still very much a part of the gang.
Popworld caught up with Brad recently and he told that he sees Paul so often, it's almost as if he hasn't left. "I see him at dance rehearsals all the time. He's always with us 'cos he's going out with Hannah. He always comes to work with us, so it feels the same."
Paul's still involved in the music scene and his nu-metal band Skua could be set for big things, reckons Bradley. "He's got a lot of record company interest and I know that he's been doing a lot of gigs and showcases. I heard some of his songs on CD and I think it's heavy. I think he's doing well - he's going to blow up."
Bradley, meanwhile, has his future all planned out and is writing lyrics and managing rappers and MCs. "That is something to fall back on, definitely. I like to perform. One day I'm not going to be able to perform because the public isn't going to want me," he says modestly.

S Club Sorry
to Let Down
Ipswich Fans
Thousands of people were disappointed last night after the top-billed group at a Children in Need pop concert in Ipswich pulled out. S Club had to postpone at the last minute after Tina Barrett and Hannah Spearritt, fell ill.
They were to perform at a free concert in Portman Road, Ipswich, to raise cash for the annual BBC charity event. Jon acted as spokesperson for the group as he described their own upset at having let down their many fans.
He said: "We were going to perform tonight but we are two girls down and we wish them the best of luck to get better soon. "All we can say is a massive sorry to Ipswich and we are still here to show our support for Children in Need. "We feel bad because we told everyone we were performing."
Helen Boyden travelled from Colchester with her friends and their children. There were nine disappointed faces as they heard the news that their favourite band would not be playing. "I can't believe it, as we have come such a long way just for S Club," Helen said. "But we have had a good time with the S Club Juniors. They were brilliant but all the girls love S Club."
Paul Mooney, who brought his daughter Clare and son Connor from Framlingham, said: We came because of S Club but if someone is ill then they are ill."
The three-hour gig did supply many other acts including the S Club Juniors to keep the crowd entertained.

Rachel:
Hollywood
Here I Come
S Club babe Rachel Stevens has signed a six-figure deal to star in a £10million Hollywood movie. The singer was in the middle of filming S Club's fourth TV series, Viva S Club, in Barcelona when she received a call from director Ric Cantor. She left her band mates - Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh - and jetted back to London for the shoot.
Suzie Gold tells the story of a young Jewish girl, played by Hollywood actress Summer Phoenix, who breaks free from her traditional family and lands a job on a TV station. In the film Rachel plays a demanding diva from a fictional pop group called M5.
Last night she rang to tell The Sun: "Doing my scenes was great fun and I loved being on a movie set. I might play a diva but she is honestly nothing like me in real life."
Rachel got on well with Summer, sister of tragic actor River Phoenix. She said: "Summer was lovely and very friendly. "I still love singing but I definitely want to do more acting in the future." It has been a busy few weeks for the S Club star - her band release their new single, Alive, on Monday.
Suzie Gold is being made by Pathé Films on location in London and the Isle Of Man. Summer's appearance in it could help S Club achieve their dream of cracking the lucrative American market.
The band already have experience of working in the States, shooting their debut movie Seeing Double on the west coast. The children's flick is about a mad scientist who clones the band members as part of his evil plot. Thankfully it's only fiction.

Loads of Famous Clones
I'm sure you've already heard that Gareth Gates is going to make an appearance in the upcoming S Club movie, Seeing Double. But what is he going to do? According to Tina, Gareth will play a clone of... Gareth Gates, and he's not the only famous clone in the movie.
Tina told Manchester Online: "We've got loads of other people as well. Michael Jackson, Elton John. They were very good - these are all look-alikes obviously. We've got millions of people who look like icons. It's great. Madonna in our film! Why hire the real thing when you can get the lookalikes for two euros!"

S Club start Chinese whisper in aid of ChildLine
S Club have been taking part in a giant Chinese whisper in aid of ChildLine. It's to launch a fundraising drive for the children's charity.
It all kicked off Jubilee Gardens in London. S Club whispered a message to the first of 365 children. They then whispered the message to each other until it came full circle back to S Club. The message was: "Are you listening to children and young people?".
A Guinness World Records spokeswoman said the current world record for a game of Chinese whispers is for 296 people so they're looking at it to see if a new record has been set.

Jo Takes It Slow
When you spot just five S Clubbers strutting their way through "Alive" don't panic! The lovely Jo is definitely NOT leaving the band! Ms O'Meara announced recently that she's hurt her back and, while it's not super serious, she's under strict orders to get lots of rest to get better soon.
So that means the Club will be performing without Jo for the rest of the year 'cause let's face it, those dance routines are pretty darned energetic. However, you won't miss Jo altogether 'cause she'll still be doing interviews and TV appearances with the rest if the guys just like before.

Movie Gossip
Newsround visited S Club at their flat in Spain, where they're shooting the new film, Seeing Double. Jon and Hannah were spending one of their few days away from the set in their gorgeous apartment (with balcony and DVD player). Then Bradley and Tina popped round to give us all the behind the scenes goss.
For their first outing on the big screen the S Clubbers come face to face with their clones, which apparently means they've got to work twice as hard. But Hannah admitted that they had doubles to stand in for them in some scenes. This week they're heading to an old castle for the last four days of filming - but the movie won't be out until next year.
Jon is pretty nervous about seeing himself on a huge cinema screen. And Tina reckons she'll force her family to see the movie loads of times if you don't go and see it!

S Club strips in Kenya
S Club beauties Rachel Stevens and Hannah Spearritt strip off in Africa - and show the kind of animal attraction that got Princes William and Harry prowling around.
Rachel said Wills, 20 and Harry, 18, were on the hunt at the concert in London to mark their grandmother's jubilee in June.
The 24 year old - who performed with the band - added: "They're just typical lads. They were checking every girl out at the party held at Buckingham Palace afterwards for all the acts."
Curvy Rachel and Blonde Hannah spent a week at a lodge in Kenya for a sizzling photo shoot for the November issue of FHM, on sale now.
Hannah, 21, told the magazine: "the showers are completely open to the elements. It's great - very liberating!" Well, the snaps are enough to get any male admirers needing a cold shower of their own.

S Club to Teach Children
S Club are to star in a new commercial BBC educational project called Pop Goes English, which will be distributed across the non-English speaking world through TV, CD-ROMs and books.
The idea is already in final development in Taiwan, where local star e-Vonne will be used as an interpreter and translator alongside the S Club songs.
The language project has come thanks to a deal between BBC Worldwide and pop impresario Simon Fuller, whose company 19 Entertainment also represents Will Young and Gareth Gates. If the S Club Pop Goes English project is a success, other 19 Entertainment clients may follow.
S Club's lyrics may be somewhat obtuse, but the BBC Worldwide spokesman insisted pop music will provide an effective tool for learning English. "There is a long history of people learning English from pop songs, and this is an extension of that," she said.

More Movie Secrets
We've all seen the pictures of S Club packed into that big red car from their upcoming movie "Seeing Double", but what kind of car is it? It's a Buick Skylark, chosen because it was the only cool car that could be doubled in Spain.
There is going to be a scene in the movie where Rachel will lose her sweater - calm down boys, there'll be a T-shirt underneath. Also in another scene all 6 S Clubbers will get naked.

But because of Rachel's fear of lifts, she walked up the 12 flights of stairs to reach the set.

Jo Releases Solo Single
Jo is about to release her first solo single called Different Kind of People - but fans needn't worry, she's not leaving the band.
Although Jo is taking a break from S Club, it won't be the end of S Club heaven. "There's still so much to do with the band. We've got loads of stuff this year - we're got a movie, the series, an album, a tour. There's still a lot of life left in S Club," she said.
But the star did confirm she would like to go solo one day: "I'm sure after S Club I'll go on my own," she said. Fans of the band were worried Jo's solo release could mean she may leave the band, like former band member Paul Cattermole.
But Jo reassured that although Paul's left S Club are now stronger than ever: "Paul's happy now, and we're all happy and getting on better than ever. We get closer everyday and our stuff gets better everyday. We're pretty strong," said Jo.
Jo did admit it was different working without the other five. "It's kind of weird not having the rest of the band around but in a way it's kind of nice to not have Bradley rapping in my ear all day!" she said.
Jo's solo single, Different kind of people, is out in September. S Club's new release will be on sale in October.

Jo's Not Quitting

But rest easy S Club fans, Jo isn't going anywhere. A spokey for S Club has promised that Jo is not ready to go it alone and will not be following ex-bandmate Paul out of the gang.
The word is the blonde Clubber is committed to a fourth S Club album (out later this year), plus their film Seeing Double and also another tour next year. So it looks like there's nothing to worry about!

I'm Glad Paul's Leaving
Hannah Spearritt says she is glad boyfriend and fellow band member Paul Cattermole is leaving the pop group. She says she is looking forward to being a "normal" couple after years living in each other's pockets.
The 21-year-old said the whole situation "will be more normal than it was before". She told a Sunday magazine: "It'll be like an everyday relationship and we'll be just like everyone else - where you go to work, come home at the end of it and then see your partner."
Hannah added: "If you have some time apart, then you can have much more of a laugh because when you do get together and say, 'Hi, how was your day?' You don't already know the answer."

The Clubbers nibbled on some delish fishy dishes before gettin' down on the dancefloor till the early hours! So now S Club are having a well-deserved week-off.

He had been in Barcelona with the rest of the band shooting new TV series Viva S Club. But while Rachel, Hannah, Tina, Jo and Jon had a rest, Bradley was spotted dodging a rubbish bin as he walked out of posh club Elysium with a blonde.
An onlooker said: "Bradley was desperate to go out and left with a blonde. They seemed more than just mates, if you know what I mean."

Seeing Double
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the title of S Club's new movie will be "Seeing Double". It will be directed by music video director Nigel Dick.
Seeing Double has been written by Kim Fuller who also wrote Spice World, and it is now being rewritten by Sally Robinson due to Paul's departure from the band earlier this year.
The movie, which will begin shooting in the fall, is about a Dr Evil-style scientist who clones the six S Clubbers.

Animal Magic
Yee-ha! S Club's absolutely animal 'tastic series, S Club Go Wild, has just hit stores! The set of seven incredible shows follows the band working with WWF to track down endangered animals, taking in some of the world's most remote and exotic spots as they go.
What's more, both the video and DVD contain tons of info on how you can follow in S Club's footsteps and do your bit to protect the planet with WWF. And the DVD has even more cool extras, including a grrr-eat game and extra info too!
So if you fancy monkeying around with Jon or cuddling up to a Giant Panda with Tina (aww!), make sure you bag your copy of S Club Go Wild on video or DVD now!

Sweet Suite
Are Jon and Hannah officially the luckiest S Clubbers or what? The pair were down in the mouth recently when they were told extra bookings meant they'd have to move out of their apartments near the rest of the band - until they found out where they were moving to!
Han and Jon are still in the same building but now they're making everyone else green by swanning around in an enormous three-bedroom suite with a massive terrace and great views! Some guys have all the luck!

G-string Upsets Rachel
Rachel was shocked when her fiancé was sent a G-string in the post. Holby City actor Jeremy Edwards revealed it caused a bust-up between them. He said it was sent by an obsessive female fan who described what she wanted him to do to her.
Edwards told Company magazine: "The letter was really rude - this woman had written down everything she wanted to do to me, along with her phone number. I got in real trouble with Rachel - what are the odds of that happening after seven years of nothing but really tame fan mail?"
The former Hollyoaks star said most fans had written to say how happy they are that he has found love with Stevens. Edwards also told of how he made his marriage proposal - and revealed that he only chose Valentine's Day because they both had days off work.
"I didn't get her a ring because I know girls like to choose that sort of thing themselves, but I did buy Rachel some diamond earrings," he said. "I was going to give them to her and then after the meal give her a card in which I'd written 'marry me'. But in the end my heart was leaping out of my chest as soon as we got into the room (of the Dorchester Hotel) and I couldn't wait.
"As she opened the card I got down on one knee and said 'Will you marry me? I want you to be my wife.' She said yes and gave me a hug - I was shaking like a leaf."

Bare Necessities
We've had our ear to the ground in Barcelona again and it sounds like fans of Jon are in for a real treat when the new series hits our screens. And that's 'cause the lovely Mr Lee has found himself rather short-changed in the outfit department recently!
First up Jon had to film a scene where he composes a new song in the shower and rushes out to tell the others - forgetting his clothes, followed by a scene where he and Jo put on disguises. But while Jo sensibly nabbed a costume of army combats and warpaint, Jon got just a skimpy loin-cloth! Brrrr!

Viva S Club - The Series
In an interview in today's Sunday Mirror Rachel revealed that the name of the new series will be VIVA S CLUB!
Quoted from the interview: "Once filming of the 13-part series - provisionally titled Viva S Club - finishes at the end of July, the group return to the UK for post-production work."
After that they jet off to Los Angeles to begin work on the new multi-million pound S Club movie - about a Dr Evil-style scientist who clones the S Clubbers.

S Club Get Back to Work
S Club have gone back to work, for the first time without former member Paul Cattermole. The remaining six members of the chart-topping band have got together to make a Sunny Delight TV advert to be shown later this summer. Hannah, Jo, Rachel, Tina, Jon and Bradley met up in Barcelona, Spain to make the ad.
The last time the S Club were in public was at the Queen's Golden Jubilee Party at the Palace, where Paul bid goodbye to the S Club. After fours years in the band, Paul has quit to try and make a new music career, in a nu-metal band called Skua.

Hair-Raising New Series
The new series is still super secret but a little bird tells us to expect to see the six like we've never seen them before! Recently Jo and Hannah had an extremely messy time getting themselves covered in filth and dirt so it looked like they'd been on a long bike ride, while Jon had his hair totally spiked up so it looked like he'd stuck his finger in an electrical socket! Sounds like we're in for a few giggles!

No Dopes In S Club
Simon Fuller has ordered that S Club 7's dope shame is left out of the group's forthcoming biography.
The band's boss has spent £100,000 of his own money on the official biography of S Club 7 - who are now called S Club after Paul Cattermole left the band. But Fuller has banned any reference to the scandal when the group's Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh and Paul were arrested for smoking a joint in London's Covent Garden last year.
Author Jenny Jones will chronicle the life of the chart-topping act since they were formed in 1998. A source said: "It's strange for Simon to use his own money but he's a canny businessman. He more than knows what he's doing." Once Simon has OK'd the final draft, he will sell the rights to a major publishing house.

Six in Spain
Right now, the Club are in España, working like busy bees on the second half of their new series. But of course, there's one big difference - Paul's not there! The band are finding it a bit weird not having him around but are taking it all in their stride.
Says Brad, "It does feel strange, especially when we're working on dance routines for just six people! We're getting used to it though and Paul's just popped over to see Han, which is wicked. It's really cool for all of us to catch up with him."

Paul Bows Out of Club
S Club's Paul Cattermole told The Sun he was thrilled to end his time with the band at the royal gig. He said they gave him a fantastic send-off in his final performance with them.
Paul, who is leaving to join nu-metal band Skua, said: "I will look back on yesterday as one of my greatest moments ever. I really feel so lucky. There were no tears and it was a joyous day."
But he admitted he was terrified about what the future held for him. He said: "I'm scared about leaving but then you have to do things to scare you or else life is boring. I do worry about being hated by the fans - I'm scared they won't forgive me for leaving. But a man's got to do what a man's got to do."

Royal send off ... for Paul from the rest of the band |
He will still see a lot of S Club as girlfriend Hannah Spearritt is staying with the band, despite rumours to the contrary. He said: "I'm going to tag along sometimes to see her. As for trips abroad, I'll go on one or two with her then I can knock on everyone's doors and say hello."
Paul reckons their relationship will be stronger now they won't be working together. He said: "I think it will work better. It will be more like a real, well, normal relationship. We will be like a man and wife who go to work and then come home and see each other in the evening."

Hannah sets the record straight:
I'm Not Quitting S Club!
In an interview backstage at the Party at the Palace concert yesterday, Hannah assured CBBC Newsround that she's definitely not leaving S Club.
There had been rumours in the newspapers over the weekend that she wanted to quit. Paul - her boyfriend - has already left the band, and the papers said she feels cut off and wants to leave too.
But the band told Newsround that this is nonsense and they can't understand where the story has come from. They have just finished recording their fourth album as a six-piece. They are also shooting their next TV series in Spain.
They say it simply wouldn't make sense for Hannah to go, and they want to set the record straight. Although they are sad that Paul has left, they looked very happy together, and they said they're looking forward to a very exciting year.

S Club Star
Ends on High Note
Paul Cattermole says he is "over the moon" after bowing out of S Club 7 after four years.
The singer says he feels nostalgic about all the laughs the group have shared. But he says he is looking forward to doing his own thing with rock band Skua.
"I couldn't have asked for a better way to go out," said the singer following the Party in the Palace. He announced he was quitting earlier this year and had no idea the Jubilee concert would be his last. "When I realised I couldn't have planned it any better."
"People have been asking me how it feels to be leaving tonight but it hasn't really sunk in yet - the occasion has swamped out any feelings I had. "There's a feeling of nostalgia because of all the good laughs we've had, but I'm over the moon to be doing what I'm going to be doing."

S Club 7 said goodbye to Paul Cattermole |
There was drama during the band's performance when fireworks gave them a scare. Tina Barrett said: "We had a shower of fire on us and I was quite worried. I thought we were going to go up in smoke." However, their fears were unrealised.

S Club vs Sir Cliff
S Club are totally excited about this weekend 'cause not only do they get to fly home for a few days, but they'll also be performing at Her Maj's Golden Jubilee concert! Rach told us, "It's a massive honour to be asked to perform with so many amazing artists taking part. I'm really thrilled but nervous too. I feel a bit wobbly thinking about all those people watching - including the Queen!"
The guys will be ripping up the stage with a live 'n' loud rendition of "Don't Stop Movin" and they'll also be making a v. spesh appearance with Sir Cliff Richard to sing "Move It". Unmissable!

7 Take Time Out
The S Clubbers are settling into their Spanish surroundings and though they're working pretty hard, they're still finding time to hang out. Their fave downtime activities include hiring vids, going to the gym and trying out the local restaurants - it seems they're getting a taste for the Spanish grub after all!
Jo and Rachel spent the afternoon taking in Barcelona's sights recently on a local tour bus - and didn't get recognised once! Tina's been catching up on some rays (and managed to burn her face - oops!), while Bradley's found a local nightclub whose tunes he really rates - which means it's harder than ever to get the band's resident sleepy head out of bed!

Splitting Again?
"News Of The World" keeps making up S Club split stories. In January they tried to convince us that S Club 7 were going to split, which they didn't, and now it's about Hannah.
According to the tabloid newspaper Hannah wants out to pursue a solo career because she finds it too difficult to be away from Paul and because she doesn't get on with the band as much as she used to. They claim that tomorrow's Jubilee Concert in London, which is Paul's last gig with the band, might be Hannah's last gig as well.
We have already heard several rumours about Hannah leaving S Club, but according to the band and their PR company, it is not true.

Rachel
Still Britain's
Sexiest Woman
Rachel has again been named the world's second sexiest woman, by UK men's magazine FHM.
In the Top 100, voted by the magazine readers, she was only beaten by Anna Kournikova.
This makes Rachel the highest placed British star in the chart, just like last year.
Britney Spears was third in the list followed by Jennifer Lopez, who topped the poll in the previous two years.

S Club Deny Rumours
Hannah Is Leaving
S Club have denied rumours Hannah Spearritt is planning to leave the band. Fansites claimed Hannah was leaving temporarily due to personal reasons. The reports alleged she was unhappy with S Club manager's latest project, S Club Juniors.
The story appeared at the German magazine websites www.yam.de and www.maedchen.de, and later appeared at JonKingdom.com. A spokeswoman from the band's PR company Henry's House told Ananova the rumours were "definitely not true."

The Rain In Spain
Forget 'sunny' - the S Clubbers found themselves in 'rainy' Spain recently when they turned up to start filming the new series in Barcelona on the beach! In fact, the weather was so grim, with howling gales that the 7 had to rejig all the shooting schedules so they could film indoors! That meant they found themselves filming scenes for episodes towards the end of the series before they've started on the first shows! Weird, huh? That's all behind them now though as the sun's finally come out so the band can hit the beach!

Paella vs. Egg and Chips!
S Club may be made up to be filming their latest awesome series close to home, but that doesn't mean they haven't had the odd language problem! "Not that many people speak English, and let's just say our Spanish isn't up to much, so ordering food in restaurants can be a bit of a struggle", laughs Jo. In fact, some of the band are missing home cooking so much that they jetted to the UK the other weekend just to stock up on English grub!

Smokin' Rachel
According to The Sun, Rachel has been "caught" smoking again.
That's not really big news, but that Rachel was seen in Hampstead, North London, this weekend does question the fact that the S Clubbers were supposed to be in Barcelona filming their 4th series!

Gareth Gates Grows
Out Of "S Club Crush"
Gareth Gates says he's grown out of his crush on S Club's Rachel Stevens. The singer previously admitted to being besotted with her. But he admits he still has a soft spot for the newly unattached Britney Spears.
Gates told Top Of The Pops magazine: "I have to say I'm over Rachel now - I've moved on. "Not in a nasty way, it's just that it was a crush when I was younger. I don't have a crush on anyone at the moment. I just wanna focus on my career really, although Britney is an exception."

TOTP Man Hates
S Club Juniors
Top of the Pops producer says he hates S Club Juniors and doesn't want them on the show. "I'll have to put them on the show, but it's not because I'm a big fan," said Michael Kelpie.
"The record company has done such a good job of promoting them everyone has bought their single." Michael Kelpie said if they reached the top spot, or even number two, he'd be forced to have them on the show. And in Sunday's chart that's exactly what happened. The micro popsters reached number two with One Step Closer only missing out to the Sugababes' new single, Freak Like Me. "Begrudgingly, I'll have to put them on," said Michael.
If you don't hate the Juniors, they will be on TOTP on Friday 3rd May!

Jeremy Can't Find Time to Marry Rachel
Jeremy Edwards has admitted he's having difficulty finding the time to marry S Club star Rachel Stevens. The Holby City actor says their busy schedules make it impossible to set a date for the wedding. The pair, who have been dating for nearly two years, got engaged on Valentine's Day.
Jeremy told Heat magazine: "It's impossible. We've only just found out that she's got three weeks off now. We've got to try and book a holiday today but that means me begging and pleading for time off from Holby. How can we possibly organise a wedding? If I had it my way we'd just go away and get married somewhere hot and nice. But then both our families would be mortified."
Jeremy adds that they aren't planning on starting a family for a while. "People always say it's never a good time, but now really isn't," he says. "If Rachel got pregnant now it wouldn't be disastrous for her career but it would make life very difficult. We'll get married first."

S Club's 'mini-me' outfit S Club Juniors set for debut release
S Club 7's young spin-off group are set to release their debut single and album. S Club Juniors supported their elders on their recent UK arena tour. Their single One Step Closer, co-written by Cathy Dennis, is out on 22nd April, with an album due out later this year.
The eight members of S Club Juniors are all aged between 11 and 14. The band was formed late last year by Simon Fuller's 19 Management via S Club Search; four massive open auditions which saw more than 10,000 young hopefuls pass through its doors.

S Club Sunshine
When Popworld met up with S Club last Friday they were all about to go on holiday! During their three weeks off, the gang are heading off all over the globe - Tina will be in the Canary Islands and Bradley in the Bahamas, while Hannah 'n' Paul are getting a bit of Caribbean sunshine! Meanwhile, Jon is staying at home to spend some time in the recording studio and Jo is catching up with her family.
The recently engaged Rachel was keeping schtum about her holiday plans, but she did show Popworld her engagement ring from fiancé Jeremy Edwards! The specially made ring has a big diamond set in a platinum band, which has more diamonds set in it! The beautiful ring did pose ONE problem for the lass, though. "I keep getting my hair caught in it!" she said. Poor thing.

SC7 NU LP!
When PopWorld caught up with S Club 7 recently, they couldn't wait to play us exclusive snippets of their brand-new album! Jon revealed that his fave track was "Who Do You Thin You Are?", but that at first its title had caused some confusion.
"When we found out we were recording a song called 'Who Do You Think You Are?' half of us burst into the Spice Girls' version and the rest of us started singing the M People song in a really deep voice!" the lad told us. "But I can assure you it's not the same song!"
From what we heard, the fourth album has more of a dance feel than the previous ones - and there are even a couple of garage-style choons in there! Bo! "I'd definitely say our fourth album is a bit funkier and more dancey," Bradley agreed. "There's a couple of two-step vibes in there but it's really commercial garage."
Brad also told that the group are getting more of a chance to contribute songs for the next album. "I'm writing a few songs at the moment and, hopefully, I'll get one or two on there - maybe even three! That'd be a bonus!" There is no release date for the new album yet.

Paul's Band Could
Face Fight Over Name
Paul Cattermole's new band Skua could face a rocky start - as a band with the same name already exists! They are a Swedish "heavy grooverock" outfit that specialise in psychedelic, progressive jazzrock.
It's believed that S Club star Paul's band is a nu-metal outfit. "It was kind of like Rage Against the Machine, but six or seven years ago. We used to write our own tunes so the vibe was much more creative and organic."
In the past other bands have been forced to change their name if another band with the same name already exists. Earlier this year Liberty were forced to rename themselves Liberty X because a band with the name Liberty had had a few hits in the early 1990s.

I'll Miss Hannah
Paul seemed in high spirits when he was interviewed by Popworld for the first time since leaving S Club 7. Paul told he'd been thinking of leaving the group for a while and Hannah was the first person he told, followed by Jon and the rest of the gang - but it wasn't an easy announcement to make. "It was one of the most terrifying moments of the last few years!" the fella said. "I think I'll miss Hannah the most, to be honest. And, of course, the fans too and performing for them, because that's what you do it for - the performing. There's a part of you that loves getting up on stage and just entertain them all, and I'll really miss that."

Altar-ed Reality
Jo has told Popworld that reports of her wedding being on the rocks are total rubbish! The singer had told a reporter last week that she and her fiancé Lee have decided to put their wedding on hold for some time being 'cos they wouldn't have the time to get hitched this year.
But Jo said a newspaper story claiming that the couple had been arguing and abandoned any plans to get wed was totally made up! "I don't know where they got the idea from that we had 'a series of rows'!" the lass said.
Jon also told that he was there when Jo gave the quote about the wedding and that it had been twisted by the newspaper! At least you can trust what you read here although Jo wasn't wearing her engagement ring when she was interviewed. Hmm...

S Club 7 say a last toast to their future |
Paul Cattermole is quitting the country's top pop act to join a group of old school mates who play metal. Paul decided to leave just before S Club signed a new £5million deal with their record company Polydor, a contract that would have made him a millionaire. He will play his last date with the band in June. The other six members will carry on without him as S Club.
Going Back to His Roots
Paul dropped the bombshell to band mates just a day after revealing his decision to his girlfriend, Hannah. He said: "It was just time for me to move on. There are no bad feelings but I want to go back to my rock roots. I've had an incredible time with S Club 7 but, like any job, there comes a time for you to leave. There is no major reason - it is a mixture of lots of things. Being in the band has been hard work and sometimes, while we were away, I became depressed. Fame is something I found quite hard to handle.
"I also want a change musically. I'm going to rejoin my old school group, called Skua. We have all remained good friends and we want to give it a go. I was the lead singer for a number of years. The band's music is a bit nu-metal, like Rage Against The Machine."
Is This the End?
Rachel, Bradley, Jo, Jon, Tina and Hannah all wished Paul good luck and said there were no hard feelings about his shock departure. They then spent four hours thrashing out their future with manager, Simon Fuller. The band - who have won two Brit awards and sold 10million records worldwide - decided unanimously to carry on without Paul - and ruled out bringing in a new member.

The new S Club bidding Paul farewell |
Paul has agreed to appear in the band's fourth TV series in Barcelona next month. His last performance with the group will be at the Queen's Jubilee Concert in June. S Club are currently recording their fourth album and Paul is on two of the tracks. He will miss out on a film the group plan to make later in the year - a futuristic flick about cloning being written by Simon Fuller's brother Mark.
Scared Of the Future
Paul says he had nothing against S Club 7's poppy sound but reckons metal is more him. He says: "If I don't give this a go I would never forgive myself. It is something I have got to do for me. Skua don't have a recording deal but hopefully we will be a success."
Paul also admits he is scared of what the future might hold for him in his new band. He says: "Being in S Club is immense security and I had to think for a long time before I decided to leave. It is scary, but it is also a challenge. Sometimes there are things that you just have to do. Going back to this band is what I have always wanted and this felt like the right time.
"Of course I felt a bit guilty - I didn't want to be seen as running away and splitting the band. I'm really happy they are carrying on. S Club music was not my music and I hope the fans can forgive me for leaving."
S Club Reactions
Here's what the remaining S Club members had to say about Paul's departure and their band's future:
Jo: "We have so much to do that we knew this could not be the end of the band. We are strong enough to continue without Paul but we will miss him. It is sad he is going."
Hannah: "It wasn't a big surprise because I have always known he wanted to do something different. I'm sad I won't see as much of him but we have a strong relationship. Being apart might be healthy for it."
Bradley: "I can see why Paul, at 25, felt he needed to go after his dream. He has left the band in a good way. There hasn't been a row, he just wants to do his kind of music."
Rachel: "Fans would not like it if we replaced Paul and there are already enough of us. We have been together four years and it would not be fair to bring in an outsider."
Jon: "It has taken a while to sink in. None of us had a clue. There was no point in trying to talk Paul round. S Club is about being happy and enjoying being in the group."
Tina: "If any of us thought it was wrong to carry on, we wouldn't have done so. The most important thing in life is being true to yourself - and Paul was never a pop tart."

Brad's Such a Block Head
With a string of hit singles under his belt, you would have thought S Club 7 singer Bradley McIntosh would be rolling in cash. But that wasn't the case when he popped into the Blockbuster video store in his hometown of Sutton and tried to pay the £3.75 bill on his platinum credit card.
Much to his embarrassment - and the amusement of the other customers - his card was rejected and he had to ask a friend to lend him some cash. Our spy behind the counter revealed: "Bradley was gutted. His mate had to dig around in his pockets for ages to find the money and there was a huge queue."

Jeremy Warns Singer
Over Sexy Fiancée Rachel
![]() |
Rachel and Gareth |
Pop Idol's Gareth Gates risks broken bones if he makes a play for Rachel, her fiancé warned yesterday.
Holby City hunk Jeremy Edwards, who proposed to S Club 7 singer Rachel last month, said Gareth was no match for him physically. And he added menacingly: "I'm substantially larger. He appreciates that."
Pop Idol runner-up Gareth, 17, has told repeatedly how he has a crush on Rachel, 23 - and would love to snog her. He has a poster of the stunning singer above his bed. And he gazed longingly into her eyes when they sang together on the last episode of Pop Idol.
Jeremy, 31, was quizzed about Gareth's crush on his fiancée during a GMTV interview. He admitted he and Rachel had seen Gareth in concert last weekend and found him "very impressive". But he then warned: "He's no match for me."
Giggling Eamonn Holmes butted in: "His wee bones have hardly formed in a medical sense." And Jeremy, grinning slightly, replied: "Yes. They would snap very easily." An uneasy Eamonn said he only asked about Rachel because of "what happened between Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake," who split last week. But Jeremy quickly reassured him: "Well don't worry - but I appreciate your concern."

7 Overseas
Been wondering what S Club 7 have been getting up to recently? Well, they've been hot-footing it round parts of Europe, including France, Germany and Austria. The band are really enjoying catching up with their fans across the water and you can be sure it's not all work, work, work for the 7s - the other day they entertained the crowds at Disneyworld Paris with a storming rendition of "Dance, Dance, Dance" but when they were finished, they all made darned sure they got a couple of rides on the fastest, scariest rollercoaster too!

Rachel Stevens' marriage to her Holby City sweetheart Jeremy Edwards has been postponed until 2003. Party On
Last week may have seen the end of the 7s' totally amazing Carnival tour but stories are still emerging about the final night. Apparently the gig was full of surprises for the band - like when loads of people involved with the tour, like their hairdresser and choreographer, dashed on stage and joined in the dancing on "Stronger"!
The 7s got a bit of a shock but they got over it pretty quickly with a cool bash in a Birmingham club later on. A top time was had by all, with the guys getting the chance to catch up with their nearest and dearest before heading back to the hotel for - guess what? Yep, more partying! Way to go, guys!

Travis Tell S Club 7 Boys
to Keep the Noise Down
It's 4am and Travis frontman Fran Healy is trying to get some kip ahead of a gig in Birmingham. But the banging, shouting and screaming of a riotous party in the hotel room next door is disturbing his rest.
The thud of music and drunken male taunts resonate through the wall. "Who could it be?" wonders Fran. "The Gallaghers, Limp Bizkit or maybe the Rolling Stones?" Furious Fran finally investigates and is astonished to find it's actually two fresh-faced lads from S Club 7.
The Scots rocker told the Sun last night: "I couldn't believe the noise coming from next door I finally banged on their door and Bradley McIntosh and the little blond guy Jon Lee came out. I said, 'If you don't mind, some of us are trying to sleep because we've got a show to play tomorrow night'. They looked quite embarrassed."
The groups were staying in the Hyatt Hotel after S Club's Birmingham NEC arena date and the night before Travis' gig at the same venue.

Tina's Tour Trauma
The 7s love touring but live shows don't always go to plan. In fact, the whole band agreed that Tina had suffered the most cringe-worthy moment of the Carnival so far when one of the dancers dropped her.
Poor Tina was in the middle of the routine for "Dance, Dance, Dance" when the chap who'd lifted her up lost his grip and sent her tumbling to the floor.
Luckily she wasn't too hurt and, like a true pro, carried on with the show. But she admitted afterwards that she felt like bursting into tears with embarrassment.

Gareth's in S7 heaven
Pop Idol loser Gareth Gates felt like a winner this week when he performed his dream duet. Millions will see the 17-year-old on TV tonight as he sings You Are Everything with S Club 7's Rachel Stevens.
Gareth is smitten with Rachel and has a poster of her in his bedroom at home in Bradford. He's out of luck on that score, though - as Rachel, 23, got engaged to Jeremy Edwards, 31, this week.
But the pair's duet is one of the highlights of Will Young - Pop Idol, the final episode of the hit pop series, being shown on ITV1.

"I think it's going to keep up more of a party vibe," an excited Hannah said. "Whereas the other albums have been very diverse, with some chilled-out tracks, the fourth album is gonna be a very big party album!"
Hannah and the rest of the S Club posse have decided that "You" (their latest single) will be the last track released from Sunshine. And now, the Clubbers are planning to go full circle!
"It's always good to go back to your roots," says Hannah. "Y'know - where we came from!" Well, you know what they say: There ain't no party like…"

Rachel in Duet with Gareth
Most of you are probably wondering why Rachel wasn't with the rest of the S Club 7 this past Sunday on CBBC Digital.
Well, it was because she was in the recording studio, but not recording S Club songs. She was doing a duet with Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates on a version of "You Are Everything". It will be shown on ITV1 this Saturday at 9pm in a TV special called "Will Young - Pop Idol Winner".

Rachel to Marry Jeremy
S Club 7's Rachel Stevens is to marry actor Jeremy Edwards. The Holby City star suprised the 23-year-old Rachel by going down on one knee during a Valentine's Day dinner at a London Hotel.
Rachel says she immediately said yes. The couple, both Jewish, plan a traditional wedding - but haven't decided upon a date.
She said: "Jeremy took me for a lovely dinner at the Dorchester Hotel. Then he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I really didn't have a clue he was going to do it and am thrilled to pieces. We are both so happy."
The singer announced her engagement on Sunday before S Club 7 performed at London's Wembley Arena.
Jeremy, 31, plays Danny Shaugnessy in Holby City and has dated Rachel for 18 months. They live close to each other in Hampstead, North-West London. The pair met through friends, but Rachel says she had her eye on Jeremy since his days in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

S Club 7 Face
£800,000 Lawsuit
S Club 7 could face an £800,000 lawsuit for abandoning their squeaky clean image. Merchandising company PMS International claims to have lost the huge sum after Bradley, Paul and Jon were caught smoking marijuana.
The company, who had planned to use the band's clean-cut faces on everything from lunchboxes to toothpaste, say all of their contracts were cancelled after the drugs bust last March.
A lawyer representing the firm said: "They paid a license fee to use the band's image and they were going to put them on to children's products.
"They estimate they lost around £800,000 and essentially we are saying they are in breach of contract. They didn't uphold the squeaky-clean, sweet and innocent image they had been projecting. We've sent them a letter and if our demands are not met we will issue proceedings in about six weeks."
A source close to the band told reporters: "The claim is absolute rubbish and if they do issue proceeding they will be vigorously defended."

S Club at 2
Enrique Iglesias will hold off competition from S Club 7 at the top of the UK single charts this Sunday (17th February).
S Club's new single "You" is tipped to be the week's highest new entry, according to a chart expert at the Virgin Megastore in London. She commented: "S Club are doing really well but Enrique is easily the biggest selling single of the week so far." According to midweek sales figures the 7s will enter the charts at number two.

Sensation or Exploitation?
Simon Fuller's new potential pop sensation, the S Club Juniors, has sparked controversy. Fuller unveiled the youngest band in pop, aged 10 to 13, as support to S Club 7's first British tour date.
A kids' charity immediately accused him of exploitation. Michelle Elliott, director of child protection charity Kidscape, said: "This is absurd. It is completely exploiting children. I hope this fails for the sake of the children. It's disgusting."
Fuller and S Club 7 were quick to defend their new act. The band's Tina Barrett said: "These are extremely talented kids. If they were not on the stage with us they would be performing in a West End musical."
One of Fuller's aides said: "Simon believes that, to these kids, performing in front of thousands of people on stage is no different to being in front of a school assembly."
The Juniors performed together for the first time on Tuesday in front of 12,000 at Manchester's MEN Arena. They will join S Club for the rest of the tour's 20 UK dates and already have a one-album deal with Polydor. Their first single will be released in the spring.

S Club Support for Hear'Say
S Club 7 have backed Hear'Say in the row over Kym Marsh's replacement, Johnny Shentall. Hannah Spearritt, Tina Barrett and Rachel Stevens told us Hear'Say were right to hold auditions before hiring their pal.
Tina said: "It's best to take on someone you know and like. You spend an awful lot of time together." Hannah added: "I can see why they did the auditions in case they met someone really outstanding."

Hold That Plane!
It's not easy being an international superstar, y'know? No really! Take last weekend for example, when the 7s had to nip over from Ireland to London to appear on CD:UK and then dash back to perform a gig. Firstly the gang got held up in Dublin by flight delays and thought they were going to miss the show, then, on the way back, they were delayed by high winds and had to take taxi bikes to make it to the airport in time. After all there were thousands of fans waiting for them to hit the stage in Belfast. Phew! Hectic or what?

Pop Idol Finalists: S Club 7 Gig Was Career Highlight
Pop Idol hopefuls Will, Gareth and Darius have described performing in front of 7,000 fans as "incredible". They supported S Club 7 at the band's Dublin concert earlier this week.

The three contestants agreed the concert was the highlight of their career so far. "It was incredible," Darius said. "I really let go on stage as I sang It's Not Unusual and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. It felt like a dream while I was up there and afterwards I kept saying to myself 'is this real?'"
S Club 7 danced alongside Will as he sang Night Fever. Gareth performed a version of Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. After the concert S Club 7 joined the contestants for a night on the town.
Will, Gareth and Darius will battle it out for a place in the Pop Idol grand final on ITV tonight at 6.10pm.

S Club Tour Kicks Off
The S Club Carnival tour kicks off tomorrow night at The Point in Dublin and it's set to be an amazing evening! We caught up with Hannah to find out what was in store for the lucky audience. The lass told us that the show starts with the Clubbers making their entrance from under the floor and from then on it's non-stop excitement and entertainment! Of course, there'll be loads of great costumes and some very special surprise guests, but look out for one very cool feature - a moving catwalk that comes down over the audience! And the music? "Well, it's got some of the same songs as the last tour," explained Hannah. "Loads of the hits, plus you've got the new songs from third album, like 'Dance Dance Dance'."

Sssh! Tour Secrets!
Any of you who caught last year's S Club Party might be wondering how the upcoming Carnival can live up to all that action! But don't panic, cause an inside source tells us it's going to be even more red hot than their last show, with the 7s even exploding onto the stage from under the floor! Wow! What's more, the 7s will get even closer to the audience 'cause a really amazing bit of the show will see 'em dancing overhead on a moving catwalk! Seriously cool or what?

Ready for the Carnival?
"Something a little bit sunny and a bit special." That's how S Club 7 describe the upcoming Carnival tour.
The tour rehearsals ended Friday after several weeks of hard work. Last week the S Clubbers rehearsed the dance routines, and this week they added the costume changes.
The costumes have been put together by the same people who made last year's S Club Party gear. The 7s will be popping in and out of no fever than five different outfits each for every show! According to Tina the costumes are "colourful but also quite fashionable as well".
"You can expect a really fun-packed night", Tina said. "It's going to be completely different from the last tour. There will definitely be some surprises but I won't be putting on the ballet shoes this time!"
Bradley added, "This tour will definitely be better. I mean the other one was fun as well - the style was more like a West End show, it had a storyline to it, whereas this one is more musical. It's gonna be a massive party!

Dublin Here We Come
Irish S Clubbers are in for a double whammy this week when S Club 7 hit town. Not only will they be the first fans to get an eyeful of the S Club Carnival but they'll also get the chance to catch the guys in action on Sunday when they play the Childline concert in Dublin! An annual event held in aid of Childline, which helps kids all over Ireland, the gig is always an awesome popfest, and this year looks like being the best yet!

Practice Makes Perfect
The 7s may be pretty darn busy right now getting the S Club Carnival bang up to scratch for you guys but we managed to pin down Jon (lucky us!) and find out exactly how rehearsals are going.
"It's different this time round", says Jon. "We all absolutely loved performing live last year with S Club Party, so this time we're less nervous and even more excited! Right now we're working on the final touches to our dance routines and vocals so the next is to start practicing actually on stage. And yes, it is harder than it looks!" And Jon let us in on a little secret - he reckons this tour will be more spectacular and packed with awesome effects than the last one! How cool is that?

S Club Deny Rumours of Split
S Club 7 have denied rumours that they are to disband, saying there is no way they are planning to quit.
A statement from the band said there was absolutely no truth in the rumour. They added that they were starting a tour at the end of January, filming a movie straight after that and recording a fourth series in 2002.
Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh, Tina Barrett, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt and Jon Lee added: "There is no way that we are planning to quit. We came out of 2001 on a high with the Record of the Year Award for Don't Stop Moving and we hope to have even more success this year and beyond."

Fellow band-mate Tina Barrett told a newspaper: "She's still engaged, but we've been so busy and she wants to do it right."
